Syntropy

Notes from "A Purpose Derived Life"
(a work in progress)

Syntropy (Chapter Three)

In his book What Is Life?, the famous physicist Erwin Shrodinger wrote that the universe is driven by entropy but life exhibited a resistance to entropy which he called negative entropy. The term was later changed by other writers to negentropy and then, for some, to syntropy. The word syntropy uses the same prefix as the word synthesis so sounds more positive and constructive than negentropy. Syntropy is the movement towards order and organization which is displayed in the collection, storage, and dissemination of energy and information which are hallmarks of living organisms.
